15 March 2009 - Barter Day at Hummus Bros in aid of Cancer Research was a tremendous success. Since the start of the Credit Crunch, Cancer Research UK's charity shops have seen a 30% increase in customers. Unfortunately, they've also been hit with a 50% drop in donations. Hummus Bros teamed up with Cancer Research UK to help restock their charity shops. Punters at Barter Day traded in used goods for some delicious hummus. Donations included designer purses, shoes, jackets, suits, books and DVDs. In excess of 70 large bags of goods were collected - totalling over £2,000 in potential sales for Cancer Research UK's network of charity shops. Collected goods flew off the shelves. In fact, many goods were sold by the Cancer Research UK charity shop on Marylebone High Street within 24 hours - one person even negotiated a deal to buy one of the donated items right out of the collections van in front of Hummus Bros!
